Mumbai: In an important development, Dharavi Redevelopment Project Private Limited (DRPPL), a joint venture between the Maharashtra government and the Adani Group, has decided to launch a survey to collect data from lakhs of informal residents in Dhar.

Government Will Collect Data

The State Government will collect data to determine their resettlement eligibility criteria under the proposed redevelopment project. The survey, for the first time, also included a state-of-the-art library in one of the world’s largest informal settlements, ‘Digital Dharavi’, the company said in a statement.

“This marks the beginning of making Dharavi a world-class township and a state-of-the-art city in Mumbai. We request all Dharavikars to support this exercise. According to a DRPPL spokesperson, this will facilitate the implementation of the rehabilitation process and, in the end, give them their dream home.

Survey Will Begin From Kamla Raman

According to the company, the survey will start in Kamla Raman Nagar. Each unregistered lease receives a unique number. Afterward, the relevant lane undergoes laser mapping, known as a ‘lidar survey’. A trained team visits each household with an indigenously developed application to scan the documents.

Maharashtra Government’s DRP Scheme

DRPPL announced on January 1 that it has partnered with renowned architect Hafeez Contractor for its ambitious Dharavi project. It will involve the redevelopment and resettlement of nearly 1 million residents in one of Asia’s largest slum clusters.

A special objective of the Maharashtra government’s DRP scheme is to ensure that every informal tenant gets a house. For the first time in such a project, housing will be provided to the eligible as well as the ineligible.

Dharavi Group Won the Bid

The entire project is anticipated to take 17 years to come to fruition. 20,000 crores for a project of over the group won the bid by promising an initial investment of Rs 5,069 crores.

Eligible industrial and commercial units in redeveloped Dharavi should scale up their businesses. Get a five-year holiday in payment of State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) to formalize. This will also be as per tender rules.
