The state capital is one of the largest housing projects executed by a government agency. Next to it is an urban forest, again the biggest in the city, and the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) is gearing up to unveil these two projects very soon.

A housing project is being developed at Subuddhipur on the outskirts of the city. It will have more than 700 residential units. This is the highest for any BDA project. However, the adjacent urban forest is being developed on an area of 90 acres.

Housing Project Named Ekamra Residency

Ekamra Residency, a BDA housing project in Subuddhipur, is currently under construction at a cost of Rs. 199.64 crore. The building will consist of 14 floors and will incorporate the latest technology. Officials said that the construction will have a gym, clubhouse, rooftop swimming pool, and other facilities.

Ekamra Residency has 416 two BHKs and 288 three BHKs for middle- and high-income groups. BDA is also planning to build 300 affordable housing units adjacent to the project for people from low-income groups.

Development Works of Both Projects Will Start Soon

“Ekamra Residency, Subuddhipur, has 704 residential units with all modern township amenities and wide access roads. A nearby affordable housing project with 300 housing units,” said BDA Vice-Chairman Balwant Singh.

He said that the housing project will benefit from Anand Bana, the largest park in the city of Bhubaneswar. Singh said that the development work on the two projects is going on like a war footing, and the inauguration ceremony will be held soon.

Spread over an area of 90 acres, Ananda Bana (the forest of bliss) is divided into two parts and connected by a foot-over bridge. Officials said it is the largest open space in the city for people to spend their leisure time cycling, walking, yoga, and other activities.

Design and Concept Plan for an Urban Park

The authority has recently developed an interpretation center at Ananda Bana where people can enlighten themselves with environmental knowledge. A cafe recently got approval to open in this urban park.

The BDA, in collaboration with the Forest Department, has prepared a design and concept plan for this urban park. “I visited the place recently. It is very serene, calm, and quiet. It gives the impression of a forest,” said Chinmay Patra, a resident of Kalinga Nagar.
