Gurgaon MCG Strict Action Against Property Tax Evaders

According to a latest report published in the Times of India, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has identified 4,857 property tax evaders in the city who have evaded their tax dues of Rs. 1 lakh or more failed to pay. This amounts to Rs 160 crore in unpaid property tax arrears. MCG is actively pursuing these defaulters. It warned them to clear their dues immediately.

In the current financial year, the Corporation has earned Rs.229 crores through property tax. By the end of the month, they are aiming to earn Rs.250 crores. It has estimated a revenue of Rs 250 crores from this head for 2024-25 as well.

100% Waiver, 15% Concession on MCG Property Tax Arrears

Further, to benefit the property owners, MCG will waive the penalty interest. The authority is also offering a 15% concession to property tax defaulters. Under the new scheme, property owners have to pay their tax dues by March 31. Further, it has been announced that one will be eligible for a 100% waiver only if the dues are cleared by the last date.

An official has reportedly said that people who are yet to pay their property tax should access the government’s No-Due Certificate (NDC) portal to verify their property data and self-verify information to settle their tax payments. It is important to ensure that all property information is accurate and up to date to avoid any potential conflicts or problems.

Flexibility to Self-Verify Data
