Are you familiar with Telangana's Building Regularization Scheme?

To more effectively plan civic facilities in Telangana and investigate unplanned constructions, the state government has reintroduced the Building Regularization Scheme (BRS). Homeowners should apply for BRS to avoid legal action on the property. Applicants can apply for clearance using the online portal.

The Telangana High Court has questioned why the Telangana government is not taking necessary action against building violations even though it is trying to approve and regularize buildings that are not as per approved layouts from local bodies. As soon as the state government announced that action would be taken against those who committed illegal activities, around 25 thousand illegal constructions were discovered in Hyderabad.

In all the cities of Telangana, unapproved plans and haphazard constructions have hampered the establishment of new civic amenities and the repair of existing ones. To make metropolitan plans more fruitful, the state government has relaunched the Building Regularization Scheme (BRS).

What is the Building Regularization Scheme (BRS)?

The full form of BRS is the Building Regularization Scheme. It is also known as the Layout Regularization Scheme (LRS), and the state government has issued policy notices to legally approve buildings constructed without approved plans or deviating from approved ones.

The Telangana government relaunched the BRS some time ago, which called for the approval of every building plan and layout by the local development authority. Therefore, every layout of a real estate development plan should get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the local authority.
