Introduction

The road network in Haryana is expanding rapidly. The construction of some key expressway projects is in progress. With new flyovers, bypasses, and expressway projects, the state aims to decongest all its major cities and provide easy connectivity to commuters.

Haryana Real Estate: As cited in Haryana, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar recently said that the state has developed the existing 40,000-kilometer (km) road network in the last 9.5 years. This involves upgrading 33,000 km of current roads and building 7,000 km of new roads. Currently, 22 districts in the state are connected to the National Highway (NH) road system.

Greenfield Expressway to Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

The Trans-Haryana Expressway will link up with the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway through the 86-km Greenfield Expressway. Developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the project will ease traffic movement between North and West India, reducing Delhi-NCR congestion. The development of the greenfield expressway from Paniyala to Alwar in Rajasthan will cost Rs 1,400 crore.

Delhi Amritsar Katra Expressway

Delhi Amritsar Katra Expressway is a 670-km greenfield and brownfield expressway route covering Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. Six districts of Haryana will benefit from this expressway, which will be developed under the Center’s Bharatmala project. The expressway will reduce travel time from Delhi to Katra to six hours from 12 to 13 hours and from Delhi to Amritsar from seven to eight hours to four hours.

Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways

Along with the Western Peripheral Expressway (WPE), also known as the Kundli-Ghaziabad-Palwal Expressway. The 135-km Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) completes the largest ring road corridor around Delhi. Kundli Manesar Palwal Expressway, or KMP Expressway. It is a 135.6-km-long, six-lane operational expressway. Expressways were implemented in 2018.

Haryana Real Estate: Flyover and road projects

In June 2023, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari inaugurated 11 flyover projects on 24-km, eight-lane sections of the National Highway from Delhi to Panipat. Some of the upcoming road projects are:

  • 1,700 crore for a 34-kilometer outer ring road in Karnal
  • A 23-km Ambala Greenfield six-lane ring road at Jandli village
  • In the state, 37 national highways spanning 3,391 km will undergo development.
